Amanda Muggleton
is one of Australia’s most versatile and colourful leading
ladies, with a professional career spanning some 30 years. On
stage, she has appeared with all the State Theatre Companies,
her performances include Privates on Parade, The Matchmaker,
The Seagull, Shirley Valentine (Melbourne Theatre Company),
Nicholas Nickleby, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice,
Soulmates (Sydney Theatre Company), Duet for One, A Winter’s
Tale, Gigi, We Were Dancing (Queensland Theatre Company),
Twelfth Night and Blithe Spirit, (State Theatre Company of
South Australia).
She co-starred
with Dennis Olsen in Darling, It's Noel at the Sydney Opera
House in May this year and at His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth, in
June; and together they devised Marvelous Party!, which has
played in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.
Amanda's
commercial credits include HMS Pinafore, Hello Dolly!, The
Book Club, Master Class, Annie, the original Steaming,
Educating Rita, Medea and Shirley Valentine. She has won a
Colleen Clifford Award for Miss Hannigan in Annie; a Norman
Kessell Award for Shirley Valentine and The Rise and Fall of
Little Voice; and a Green Room Award and a Robert Helpmann
Award for best actress for Maria Callas in Master Class. She
has also been nominated for MO Awards for roles in Master
Class, Soulmates, and in 2004, The Red Peppers as part of
Queensland Theatre Company’s We Were Dancing.
Amanda
Muggleton’s best-remembered television roles are as Chrissie
Latham in Prisoner and Connie Ryan in Richmond Hill. She also
played guest roles in many other series, including A Country
Practice, Cop Shop and Sarah Dane. Her film credits include
Mad Max I, Street Hero, Queen of the Road, Mr Reliable,
Feeling Sexy and Idiot Box.
Earlier in 2004
Amanda Muggleton completed a national tour of The Lion, the
Witch and the Wardrobe playing the White Witch.
Amanda has just won a Helpmann Award for her portrayal of Mercedes Cortez in Eureka. |
